What this is about:
Most teams win short corners every match.

Very few have players who can actually take responsibility for them.

The injection isn’t reliable.
The trap isn’t clean.
No one is fully confident getting the shot away.

So it ends up rushed, or breaking down, or just going nowhere.

This block is about changing that.

It’s about building players who can take ownership of a role in a corner - and do it properly.
Who this is for
Secondary school players in 3rd - 5th Year
This is NOT suitable for:
-
Hockey beginners
-
Players looking for games or casual sessions

This IS suitable for:
-
Players new to short corner skills, who want to be part of attacking corners on their team.
-
Players wanting to refine and improve existing skills
-
Players who want correct technique and confidence before using these skills in matches
The Outcome
Over the 6 weeks, players will work towards becoming a go-to option in specific short corner roles.

That includes:

-
Injecting with the pace and consistency needed in matches
-
Trapping cleanly so the intended corner routine can be run.
-
Getting a shot or delivery away under pressure
-
Positioning and timing for deflections on open and reverse sides.
-
Rebounding positions, and how to score them in 1-2 touches

By the end of the block, players should be confident that:
“This is my role in a corner, and I can do it properly.”

Teams don’t need more players having a go at corners.

They need players who can be trusted to do a job.
How the Block Works
-
6 sessions, 1 hour each
-
Built up properly week by week
-
High repetition in each role
-
Players rotate so they understand the full setup

We’ll slow everything down, get it right, and then build it back up.

Corners improve when you spend time working on them; this time is not readily available in team settings.
Structure & Delivery

Why this block exists now
The season’s just finished.

This is the only real window to work on this properly.

During the season, corners just happen quickly and the same players end up doing the same roles - whether they’re doing them well or not.

There’s no time to fix it.

Now there is.

If you don’t sort it here, you go back into next season in the same position.
"This is about becoming the player your team uses when a short corner is won, not just someone standing on the edge of the circle."
